Let Me Introduce Myself

 

I’m an accomplished attorney extensively trained in the Collaborative Divorce Process.

I believe passionately in the effectiveness of Collaborative Law and I spend over fifty (50) hours each year in Advanced Collaborative Training. I am dedicated to making sure I have all the skills I need to help you through what is a life altering event and avoid potentially devastating results.

After practicing matrimonial law for many years, I became disenchanted with the manner in which matrimonial cases were handled in our court system. I am sure you know someone who has told you what a horrible divorce experience they had. It appeared that even during the best settlements of a litigated case, no one came through unscathed, including the attorneys. The court process draws the parties further and further apart, with little hope of normalizing their relationship when the case is over. Each party is forced to defend their position at enormous financial and emotional cost.

The Collaborative Divorce method works so well because it fills a void that has been left by the courts. While it is not for everyone, the majority of cases will benefit from selecting the Collaborative Process over litigation in court or mediation. A growing number of matrimonial attorneys now practice Collaborative Law. In order for the process to work, both sides must select an attorney trained in the Collaborative Process. In order to aide clients in this selection, it is a common practice for attorneys to form networks on the county, area, state and national level which only contain like-minded professionals trained in the this method.

As a member of several of these professional organizations, I am dedicated to training attorneys in this process and educating the public. I am one of the founding members of the Rockland Collaborative Law Network (www.collaborativelawrockland.org), a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (www.collaborativepractice.com), and a member of the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals (www.collaborativelawny.com).

While my office is in New City, New York in Rockland County, I also practice in Westchester County and New York City.
